Vancouver Style.

I recently collaborated with Vancouver Style blog on a feature at my workplace, Front and Company. Styling Chris, Shaughnessy and myself  was a very fun afternoon indeed. I look forward to working together in the future! Click through for more on Front and more pictures!

Warby Parker.

Spring is intertwined with the idea of renewal: new life in nature nspires renewed ideas and aspirations. I can't think of a better time to invest in a new pair of eye wear! Warby Parker's Spring 2014 collection is a delectable array of unisex, vintage inspired frames, in both subdued and bold iterations. The collection is for "wallflowers, center-stagers, and whoever else you want to be today".  Affordable eyeglasses and sunglasses (starting at $120 CAD for a pair) and undeniably cool, it's wonderful that the company also donates a pair of glasses for every pair that they sell. A win-win, in my books!

I've picked my favourite four styles from the collections; which is your favourite?

Let's Take A Walk.

A cold December day was the perfect day for me to step away from the lens (not that I'm particularly talented behind it) and let someone else take the reigns. Cat shot these photos in Chinatown, I'd love to go back to the neighborhood for another round of photos. How unreal is that teal wall?

And Other Stories.

Just in time for Valentine's Day comes one of the most stunning couple profiles I've seen. And Other Stories, a decidedly upscale high chain from parent company H&M, documented Michelle Harper and Jenny Shimizu in their home and on the streets of New York.

This stylish pairing are distinctly eclectic on their own; as a couple they are show stopping. Styled impeccably, their looks in the story reflect masculine and feminine in a way that is complementary without being, for the most part, identical. Lovey dovey without a saccharine aftertaste, I'm absolutely smitten with this editorial (and now I want that pink suit)!

PS. You can catch NYFW LIVE here on Style is Style, catch the catwalk here!

It's Just As Easy As That.

Ease is something that I had simply overlooked until quite recently. Perhaps it's the overall relaxation of the Spring collections that is creeping into my mindset. I find myself gravitating to simpler, comfortable pieces that I can throw on and leave the house in...perhaps my style is changing, or perhaps it's a fleeting desire. Regardless, I'm enjoying the laid-back, easy going vibe of this striped jersey shift from Gap. It requires little to know thought but packs that visual punch that I strive for. The fact that it reminds me of mod Factory girls in 1960's New York doesn't hurt either...

Chris Weber Hair.

One of the perks of working on Main Street is befriending the sweet and stylish folk who work and live in Mt. Pleasant. My friendship with Chris Weber started in an unexpected place: Stanley Park. After a chance meeting by the Vancouver Aquarium, I ran into this handsome man one night headed home from work. We got to talking, and a friendship was sparked. Little did I know that that he was a resident stylist at Barbarella, and a super talented one at that!

I recently popped down to the salon and spent the afternoon giggling as Chris worked his magic. He played with my hair after a quick cut, and I'm now inspired to try to "style" my hair more often. I didn't realize there were so many options for my haircut, but luckily Chris showed me a few tricks. Who knew I could look so badass!

Chris has been at Barbarella since 2012, when he moved to Vancouver from Germany. Working in the hair industry since 2008, he says that the best part of being a hairstylist is "
working with so many interesting people and making them happy. I love being creative and giving people a small change which is sometimes a big change for them." Focusing on colour, cut and styling, Chris is currently enamored with "all pastel colours, colour fades and...different shapes of bangs", going for the "WOW" effect. Although he likes his hair, he
sometimes wishes he "could switch with Cole Mohr." If you're looking for a new stylist, Chris comes with my highest recommendation. I don't think I've ever laughed during a hair cut as much as I did that Friday afternoon. Be sure to check out his newly minted style blog, Vancouver Style as well!
