As The Sun Sets.

I've been enjoying the balmy late evenings we have been having here in Vancouver; they are ideal for a stroll along the water or wandering new neighborhoods as that golden hour trickles across the skyline. I almost wish I lived in a place with eternal summer just so I could revel in warm evenings year round.

A pair of light socks are the perfect remedy when it gets to the (mildly) chilly parts of the evening, and how on point are these mauve ankle socks from Tabbisocks? Hosiery may very well be my biggest sartorial weakness, and these cuties fit the bill quite nicely!

All Eyes On Us.

Kenzo, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... With a nod to surrealists giants such as Magritte and Dali, the Fall/Winter Kenzo campaign is at once both eye-catching and alarming. The captivating images wink to a hilarious sense of wit. Teaming with Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari from art magazine Toilet Paper, the ad campaign takes on a life of it's on. The unsettling but wholly amusing photos benefit greatly from the influence of the Toilet Paper creators, whose tome features only images; no text, and no context.

Another must see element is the equally enchanting behind-the-scenes video, readily avaliable on Kenzo's YouTube channel. Rinko Kikuchi and Sean O'Pry look as though they are having a rip roaring time on set, stifling giggles while laying ever so still as specimens in a collector's case.

I was completely enamoured with the Kenzo RTW collection during the A/W 2013 shows, and this campaign reaffirmed my love. Also, who could say no to that kitten?!?

Hey, My Sun-Eyed Girl.

One of my favourite parts of warm weather is a reason to wear sunglasses again. I lean towards quirky, vintage inspired frames, and can't say no to a tortoiseshell frame. I've been searching high and low for a new edition to my sunglasses collection, but to no avail. Luckily, these white leopard Cheap Monday sunglasses from Surfdome showed up in the nick of time! Perfectly graphic, and a little bit larger than life, I'm smitten with cat eye shape and the gray leopard printed frames. You can check here for more styles! Hope you are having an excellent weekend, and enjoying some fresh air (like I have been lately, sorry Internet!).

Le Bunny Bleu.

The most lovely surprise is something desired showing up when you least expect it. I stumbled upon this H&M skirt from last summer at my local Value Village, in mint condition and in my size. I remember lusting after the print but skipping over it when it was in stores. Luckily, the thrift gods were on my side, and brought said skirt to my proverbial doorstep at a fraction of the price.

As for my real doorstep, Le Bunny Bleu graciously sent me these Ebony Bow flats recently. I couldn't wait to show them off! Sweet, classic, neutral; they are essentially my ultimate "I need to look put together but I cannot be bothered to put any effort today" shoe. Perfect for when there doesn't quite seem to be enough time!

The Locals: Community Thrift & Vintage.

This edition of The Locals features a place that is near and dear to me. After one my favorite local vintage shop was demolished (yay condos), I heard whisperings of a new vintage shoppe in Gastown. Community Thrift & Vintage is, hands down, my favourite place to shop in Vancouver. Inexpensive and expansive, the frock shoppe is an absolute dream! I've found many a silk blouse and vintage dress in it's walls, and for those of you who are less inclined to frills, there is the unisex/men's shoppe just down the block and around the corner. It's a great place to pick up a delectably worn vintage tee or softened denim jacket, for a song! Click through for more photos and an interview with Jenni Nelson, the owner!

Let's Take A Walk.

I am happy to annouce that the winner of the anniversary giveaway is Katie K. Congrats, I hope you will enjoy Lula and TopShop socks. Thanks to everyone who entered!

Now, moving on to my current fashion dilemmas... The key/crux of warm weather dressing is finding pieces that can stand alone while also function under light layers come evening or an occasional breeze. I picked up this dress for $5 or less a couple of summers ago while on a day trip to Seattle. My original intent was to shorten it, but somehow it escaped such a fate. Now it's a perfectly midi-length summer dress, one which I reach for on a regular basis.

PS. I forgot to mention, but I wrote a little article on the Closet Feminist about personal style. I'm in love with with Closet Feminist (which is helmed by Emily), and I hope to submit more work to the site. Definitely worth a bookmark!
