Mish Mash Balderdash.
This is probably one of my favorite "clashing" palettes that I've worn thus far. Perhaps it's too jarring for some, but for me, the blush pink strangely subdues the tangerine and royal blue. An outfit that is fun to wear always makes my day that much better... Do your outfits and the colors in them effect your mood?

Zou Bisou Bisou.
Alicia graciously invited me to a Mad Men premiere party at Establishment on Sunday, and how could I say no? With Kate as my date, we drank, made merry and ate one of the most delicious grilled cheese sandwiches ever. One of the exciting elements of going to a party like this was being able to dress up, outside of my usual realm of daily practicality.
I sported a fairly simple cat eye liner, red lips pairing...and it was the perfect time to try out my new Lash Genius from Anastasia. This product waterproofs any mascara, acting as a sort of top coat. I must admit, I was kind of skeptical about it's abilities. But, upon wearing it, I avoided that awkward mascara meltdown that usually migrates under my eyelids when I wear makeup for a long time. My makeup stayed in place, and the product itself was super easy to apply. An A+ in my books!
As far as my outfit that night, it sort of ended up being less Joan and more rockabilly. Not quite true to the period, but I feel like the essence was there. At least it was an excuse to wear my Stop Staring! dress again, and it was warm enough to wear my new Jellypop Calla sandals as well. I love cork shoes, not only because they have a springtime feel, but because they are light as air to walk it. Great heights with barely any pain inflicted on my feet? I'll take it!
An aside: US Readers! You can still enter my Stop Staring! contest. I am extending the contest to Thursday, March 29th. ENTER HERE to win a free dress!

A Fine Saturday.
And the weekend coverage continues... Saturday I went Vancouver Fashion Blogger Sale which was organized by Alicia and Cee. I think has been one
of the most ingenious local events of late. The prices were excellent
and the selection was prime (even though I wasn't an early bird). I showed up around 12:40 at the Waldorf Hotel to meet up with my pal Emily in an unexpectedly long line! Next time I will camp out early...
Many of the ladies from the Violet Hill event were in attendance/selling, and I managed to steal Alex away from her table for a millisecond for some photo-op time. Awkward flash photography ensued.
My finds this weekend were a yellow blazer from nina on the moon and a fascinator from glitter in my veins at the sale. Also picked up best book ever: The Bust DIY Guide to Life for ten dollars at Urban Outfitters downtown!
A sidenote: I officially have 1000 followers here on Blogger. Thank you for reading Style is Style!
Don't forget to enter my Stop Staring giveaway. You can win a free dress (US residents only)!!!

Rain, Rain, Go Away.
I can't seem to stop wearing collared blouses/thrifting them. They are my uniform of sorts now, and this is one of my current favourites. It was only a dollar at my favourite thrift store back in Abbotsford, and has the cutest bib detailing, complete with fabric covered buttons!
Vancouver is notoriously damp most of the year, so I was overjoyed to thrift a decent sized (and adorable print) umbrella. Sturdy and fun, this one is definitely a keeper!

Violet Hill!
I hope everyone had a great weekend, mine was especially wonderful! Fashion Capsule invited me to the Violet Hill blogger event Friday night, and although I had no idea where Steveston was, I was definitely game. Turns out that Steveston is not too far from my home in East Van, and Violet Hill is an adorable boutique that I will definitely be visiting again! Champagne, tasty treats, gorgeous clothes and bloggers a plenty...we were a match made in heaven. Granted, I was so busy chatting that I didn't take that many photos...
It was lovely to meet so many local fashion bloggers, including The Doctor's Closet, the girls from The Modline, The Unprecendented, Coco and Vera and Wit & Polish. Of course, there were familiar faces as well; seeing The Signature Bow, To Vogue or Bust and Alicia Fashionista again was awesome. I hope to attend more events like this one, it's nice to know there is a growing blogger community here in Vancouver. Thanks for having me, Violet Hill!

Pastel Paradise.
The weather has been fickle this spring. I'm never quite sure if it is going to snow, rain, be cloudy or sunny. During a recent patch of sunshine, I got to wear this mauve trench for the first time since I thrifted
it. I've had remarkable luck as far as thrifted outerwear goes for the past couple of months. Look out for a royal blue swing coat to be posted shortly!!!
As much as I adore layering, I miss the sweet warmth of summer. This palette fools me into thinking that sunny days are much closer.

Twobirds Bridesmaid.
This past weekend I had the pleasure of being a part of TwoBirds Bridesmaid's arrival in Vancouver. I hadn't heard of the company before they contacted me, but I'm completely smitten after experiencing this dress for myself. The concept is a bridesmaid dress that is convertible and universally flattering. I was apprehensive (to say the least) when they asked me to model it on a local AM television show... I couldn't help but wonder: sure, looks great on models but will the same dress really be flattering on me? Surprisingly, the answer was yes! I don't think I recall ever seeing a dress that fits and complements so many different body types and heights. It is quintessentially the perfect bridesmaid dress.
Nestled downtown in the Loden Hotel, we got to sip champagne, eat cupcakes and see the many options for ourselves at a blogger get together. I met local bloggers whom I hadn't stumbled across in my internet travels, and all the ladies were such a lovely bunch.
You can watch the video of my (first) television appearance here! I felt more than a little awkward, but the hair and makeup teams made us look pretty gorgeous for the crack of dawn (8 AM). The TV spot was promptly followed up with a delicious breakfast of fruit crepes at Organic Lives with Alica Fashionista, among others. All in all, some of my best times had in the city thus far.

How Long.
Ran outside to quickly snap these before Kate and my show a couple of weeks ago. The quality is meh (overcast days are a doozy to shoot, and that's all we seem to get around here!). I can't believe I've never blogged this dress. The colors! The print!
Next time I will do it justice, pinky swear!
